Diphtheria is a serious bacterial infection that can lead to breathing difficulties, heart failure, paralysis, and death.

Tetanus (Lockjaw) is caused by bacteria and spores commonly found in soil. These can enter the body through wounds, leading to severe muscle spasms, breathing complications, and potentially death.

Pertussis (Whooping Cough) is a contagious bacterial disease characterized by severe coughing fits followed by a high-pitched "whoop" sound and vomiting. Adolescents and adults with untreated pertussis are the primary source of infection for young infants who are either unimmunized or only partially immunized.

DELIVERY FORMAT

In-person vaccination through:

• Family Physician

• Seneca Health Centre

• Walk-in Clinic

• Pharmacy (where available)

INSTRUCTIONS

• A Tdap booster is required every 10 years.

• Your healthcare provider (HCP) will administer the vaccine if you are due for a booster.

• Your HCP should document the date of your most recent Tdap vaccination on Page 3 of the CPP Form.

• Keep your immunization record or vaccine receipt for your records.

AVERAGE COMPLETION TIME

Not applicable (appointment length varies by healthcare provider).

VALIDITY

Valid for 10 years from the date of vaccination.

• CPP Form – Page 3 (completed by your healthcare provider)

• Immunization Record, Vaccine Receipt, or other official proof of Tdap vaccination

RENEWAL REMINDER

Students are encouraged to receive their Tdap booster and obtain documentation at least 30–60 days before the expiry date or the Clinical Preparedness deadline, whichever comes first.

NOTES

If your previous Tdap vaccination is still valid (within the last 10 years), you do not need another dose. Ensure your healthcare provider records the date of your most recent Tdap vaccination on the CPP Form.
