Please review the following instructions carefully to complete your Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) application.

Application Deadline

Apply immediately after you have read and understood all the information provided.

Important: You must be physically present in Canada to apply for a VSS in the York Region.

Steps to Apply (York Region)

1.Prepare your documents

A screenshot of your Seneca OneCard Digital ID
Two (2) valid pieces of identification (examples: passport, Ontario Photo Card, driver’s licence, etc.)

2.Apply online

Complete your application through York Regional Police using the link below:

https://event.yrp.ca/OnlineClearance/VSC_Main.aspx

Online police record checks will be available as soon as possible after submission. You will receive an email with instructions on how to retrieve your completed police record check.

How you enter your information is exactly how it will appear on your completed record check. Please enter your personal details accurately. Applicants whose identity cannot be verified electronically may be required to pick up the completed police record check in person and present the original two pieces of ID.

If you are not using an Ontario Driver’s Licence or Ontario Photo Identification Card, you will need to provide proof of York Region address (e.g., bank statement, rental agreement, utility bill, paystub, etc.).

3.During the online registration, you will need to:

Complete your personal information
Upload the required identification
Select a pick-up location (if applicable)

4.Select the correct reason for request

Choose Student Placement (ID required) as the reason for request
Enter Seneca Polytechnic under the organization name

5.Pay the fee

Fee: $34 CAD

VSS Waiver (Students Under 18)

If you are 17 years old or younger and unable to apply at this time, you may request a VSS Waiver.

As soon as you turn 18, you will be required to apply for a Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS).

VSS Letter (If Requested)

If Toronto Police Services requests a placement/organization letter, please email clinicalrequirements@senecapolytechnic.ca

Include:

Full name
Program
Postal code
Brief explanation of your request

💡 IMPORTANT REMINDERS

Monitor your email and respond promptly to any police requests.

Delays in applying may affect your eligibility for clinical placement.

Your VSS validity starts from the issue date, not the application date.
