Workplace Hazardous Material Information System(WHMIS)

Students are required to achieve a minimum passing grade of 80% to successfully complete this certification.

The certification is available online at no cost and must be accessed through the Seneca portal using any computer. The eLearning module must be completed in one sitting, as it cannot be paused or resumed once started.

Upon completion, students must immediately print and save their certificate. Please note that certificates are not stored in a database, and there is no record of completion once the browser window or tab is closed.

• Complete all required sections and assessments

• Achieve a minimum grade of 80%

• Print and save your certificate immediately after completion

I can't open the link. What should I do?

Answer: It requires Microsoft Edge (version 95 or higher), Google Chrome (version 66 or higher) or Safari (version 11 or higher) to open the link. You will need to deactivate pop-up blockers and clear your browser’s cache.

Can I access the link using handheld devices?

Answer: We don’t recommend using a mobile device.

Should I put my screen name or legal name?

Answer: We recommend you use your legal name for your certificate. 

I have an old completion certificate from another company/school/organization. Can I use it to meet this requirement?

Answer: Yes, as long as it meets the required criteria and is still valid. 

What is my option if the online module is not available?

Answer: You may choose to complete complete your WHMIS from another training provider. Fees may apply.
