Average time of completion:
6 to 8 weeks - Toronto region
1 to 4 weeks - other regions and OPP
Validity period: standard 1 year (Placement may require a valid VSS within 6 months prior to clinical start date.)
Renewal time: annually (All students entering first clinical must apply for a NEW VSS.)

NEW! When is the best time to submit my Vulnerable Sector Screening application?
Answer: It’s best to apply as early as possible. For your reference, here’s a guideline:
Winter term: Submit your application between the third week of August and the fourth week of September.
Summer term: Submit your application between the third week of December and the fourth week of January.
Fall term: Submit your application between the third week of April and the fourth week of May.
I am 17 years old, can I apply for Vulnerable Sector Check?
Answer: If you are 17 years old, you will need VSS Waiver. We recommend contacting Noreen for further guidance.
I need a VSS Letter as part of my application, where can I find the letter?
Answer: You will need to contact Noreen Champagne for VSS Letter request.
Can I use my Vulnerable Sector Check from my workplace?
Answer: We recommend you apply for a new VSS under Seneca.
